You are not alone. Words that provide understanding, compassion and empathy, especially for a parent raising a child with disabilities. Knowing there are other parents who face similar challenges and share firsthand knowledge of this unique journey is both comforting and empowering.

That’s the work of the Family Focus Resource Center. For nearly 20 years, it has united families raising children with special needs and strengthened them through education, advocacy and family support services. Parents are empowered by each other through mentoring, workshops, education programs, comprehensive IEP training, family support groups and more. Our comprehensive network of resources and programs support children with or at risk for special needs from birth to age 22.

Our reach includes approximately 1,500 families in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys. Thousands of families attend outreach events, including the signature Special Needs Resource Fair at CSUN.

The phrase “it takes a village,” may be most relevant to parents raising a child with special needs. Every day, they face challenges, large and small that would exhaust most. But parents of children with special needs are more like superheroes. And even superheroes need their leagues. Funding for the Family Focus Resource Center strengthens this league of superheroes, working to empower each other and their children.
