The Center for Equity in Innovation and Technology, or as it's known, the Center of Possibilities, is an innovative, collaborative and interdisciplinary learning space that will serve as a physical addition to the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The 20,000 sq. ft. space is envisioned as one that can be used by students from a variety of disciplines on campus, as well as by community members.

The proposed center would establish a single, comprehensive space to design and create prototype products, with enough room for and a workflow that encourages team discussions among students from different disciplines during the design, prototype manufacturing and testing processes. The Center will serve as a catalyst for industry’s need to diversify and expand its pool of available talent by creating an environment where entrepreneurial, inventive thinking is encouraged and where leaders are born. The Center will provide an educational experience that will prepare students not only in engineering, but from across campus, for the 21st century workforce.

Innovation and collaboration through hands-on, interdisciplinary education is central to the mission of student success at California State University, Northridge. The region depends on CSUN to not only deliver talent to fill, manage, support and lead an evolving workforce, but also to foresee trends and adapt educational and entrepreneurial programs to meet future needs and help continue to set the global economic pace.

CSUN was recently named an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities in recognition of its efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, excellence in technology transfer and leadership in talent and workforce development.
