Matador Forward

August 18, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

We hope you joined one of the employee information sessions last week as we prepare to welcome students back to campus and virtual learning. The questions and feedback were most helpful in planning for a safe and vibrant start to the fall semester. This communication follows the Matadors Forward message sent to all employees on August 10.

VACCINATION INFORMATION

Faculty, staff and student employees working on campus should provide certification of full vaccination status or request a medical or religious exemption no later than September 30. While the meet and confer process with our union partners is still in progress, completing the certification as soon as possible allows you to opt out of the required free weekly COVID-19 testing.

You may now provide this self-certification or request an exemption through the myNorthridge Portal. Once logged into the portal, under the Policies and Procedures pagelet of the Faculty or Staff tab, select the EE Vaccine Self-Certification link and complete the form accordingly.

This process is only for state-side CSUN employees. Auxiliary employees should check with their respective HR departments for details.

**For CSUEU and SUPA only: To opt out of weekly COVID-19 mandated testing, per testing agreements with your respective unions, CSUEU and SUPA employees will need to submit proof of vaccination by uploading their vaccination card through the same EE Vaccine Self-Certification portal link as noted above. If you are unable to locate your vaccination card, please visit the LA County Department of Public Health website.

TESTING INFORMATION

Faculty, staff and student employees who do not self-certify that they have been fully vaccinated by the fall semester or who have been provided a medical or religious exemption will be required to participate in free weekly COVID-19 testing before coming to campus.

A negative COVID-19 test will need to be received within seven days of the start of classes (August 30) and then weekly thereafter. Weekly testing with our partner Fulgent will be at no cost to employees and conducted during work hours.

  • On-campus testing – on-campus testing is available from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at kiosks located near the Extended University Commons and University Student Union (USU) Freudian Sip. Test results will be provided 24 - 48 hours after test date.
  • Testing from home – Fulgent will provide at home employee test kits. The test kits will be mailed to the homes of employees for self-administration and then employees will drop off the test sample at any FedEx location. Test results will be provided 24 - 48 hours after the lab receives the mailed test kit.

Employees who have certified their vaccination status may voluntarily choose to participate in testing, noting that testing on campus will not be an option for someone who is experiencing symptoms.

You may now select your preferred testing option by completing this Testing form.

SLOW THE SPREAD OF COVID-19

With cases of COVID-19 rising in our communities, the CA Notify app is another useful resource and layer of protection. Activate CA Notify on your phone, and you’ll receive alerts if you were in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19. Your privacy is protected — CA Notify does NOT gather your name, your contact information, your specific location or movements, or the identity of the people you meet. Find out more about how to activate CA Notify and download the app today.
