Celebrating 10 Years
For 10 years we have presented world-class global artists on our stage, and this is just the beginning.
Give to the Soraya’s Tenth Anniversary Fund
Persevering in the face of challenges is part of The Soraya’s DNA – a two-decade quest for a site, a fundraising campaign interrupted by the Great Recession, and construction stalled by the state budget crisis. In the face of adversity, The Soraya (then known as the Valley Performing Arts Center) was born from tenacity. CSUN’s commitment was a game-changer, followed by support from County and State public leaders, Valley citizens and philanthropists. After a historic ground-breaking in April 2008, The Soraya officially opened its doors 10 years ago with a star-studded gala on January 29, 2011.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Thor Steingraber, The Soraya quickly became one of the greater Los Angeles region's cultural jewels with a reputation for artistic and organizational excellence. The Soraya’s mission is to present a wide variety of performances dedicated to showcasing new and original work from the Los Angeles region and global performances that appeals to all of Los Angeles's rich and diverse communities. In 2017, this caught the eye of philanthropists Younes and Soraya Nazarian, who secured a vision for the future with their naming gift.
Now, with a decade of accomplishments to its credit, The Soraya continues to expand its programming and outstanding multidisciplinary performances. Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, The Soraya transitioned its arts learning programs and performances into a virtual environment. Having met enormous obstacles before, The Soraya remains undaunted in the face of the current crisis with the support of our stalwart friends like you.
Please join us in celebrating The Soraya’s 10th Anniversary by making a gift today. With all other sources of revenue halted, your gift means more than ever. Our story would not be complete without you.
